5/9/2026 – RIDING THE BENCH (ALBEIT BRIEFLY)
It’s been a busy couple of weeks on my dancecard, including a return visit to Delavan Lake Store & Lounge (with another scheduled for August 1). Unfortunately, this whirlwind of activity will have to be significantly slowed down, as I am having my gallbladder removed on Tuesday, May 12. Until I’m able to drive (and that won’t be until after I’m off pain meds that aren’t called Tylenol), I’ll simply be at events in spirit (or I’ll just maybe Uber to one or two, if only to see my friends).
Fear not, though… I will be back on a stage, possibly near you, before you can say “Nebuchadnezzer”, and I have a few irons still in the fire.
2026 is shaping up to be quite a year for ROCKfolk… and I’m glad you’re all on the journey with me!
7/21/2025 – Will The Circle Be Unbroken?
Earlier this year, my wife and I returned to Nashville for a week’s vacation. Although I’m not a huge country music fan, one of our stops was to tour the Grand Ole Opry – an experience, honestly, any fan of music should take.
As part of the tour, you are brought onto the stage for a souvenir picture – and you can stand in a circle that was cut from the old stage of the Ryman Auditorium, the long-time home of the Opry. However, our tour guide told us that musicians normally refuse to step onto the circle unless they’re invited, as it could bring bad luck.
I don’t see myself playing the Opry any time soon, but I also know better than to slap fate in the face. As you can see, I chose not to step into the circle.
